Poem 2
Title: Summer Solstice (syllables match)
I wish I knew
why it should be
that the first day of summer
comes so very long after I’m tired of being hot.
I wish the first
day of summer
came in early May, when I'm
still yearning, leaning up,
reaching
toward the sun and its heat.
Alas it waits
Until mid-June
When I curse the sun's spitting.
its fiery waves, burning my shoulders, causing me to squint.
Now I wish for
cooler weather
falling leaves of golden hues
and breezes mussing my hair as I grumble 'bout the mess
Sunlight lingers
Taunting, laughing
Streaming through blindfolds and blinds
well into the evening, i wait indoors, until sunset
